Sometimes our desire to move to our new house or new apartment makes us forget some important details that we must solve before moving. Did we update our direction? Do we change the locks? As such there are many details that must be taken into consideration before we move, we show you which the main ones are.

1. Change your address: Well, first accept that it is almost impossible to update our address in each of the documents we have with our old address, but we should contact at least the most essential. The utility companies (water, electricity, telephone and internet) are of paramount importance and are the first with which we communicate but what about our mobile phone company, post office, banks, insurance companies and even the club which we only receive a package every year.
2. Change the locks: We never know who was left with a couple of “extra copies" of our new door.
3. Know your house / apartment: Where do you cut the water supply? Where is the gas valve? Where is our circuit board? Better to be prepared for any emergency.
4. Check smoke detectors: Check that smoke detectors work properly and while you're at it make sure you have your extinguisher is charged and functional.
5. Do you know how to get to your new house / apartment?: If you do not know probably nor the moving truck. Meet your new neighborhood, check that your property has your number visible or if an apartment, that the intercom is clearly marked.
6. Clean (yes again): Even if your property has been cleaned by its previous owner or the estate is always good to give a good cleaning, considering that this is your new property and can be cleaned up with more love and better products than anyone else.
7. Notify the Transit Authority and the Electoral Court: Yes, our first point was the change of direction but we wanted to make this point clear then as it is of extremely important. Try to do as soon as possible or you may find a major problem in the future.
